Generation Vinyl Siding Warranty
Generations® Thermal Core Siding
Limited Double Lifetime Warranty
Limited Double Lifetime Warranty Against Manufacturing Defects
Exclusive Lifetime Coverage On Materials Is Provided To The Original And First Subsequent Transferee
The term “LIFETIME” means the actual full lifetime period (i.e., until death) of the original Home Owner of the Generations® Thermal Core Siding installed on the property, but only if this Home Owner remains as the owner and primary occupant of the residence on an uninterrupted basis.
What This Warranty Covers
Norandex/Reynolds, subject to the conditions and limitations listed herein, warrants its Generations Thermal Core Siding to be free from manufacturing defects. It is further warranted against peeling, flaking, cracking, rusting, blistering, and corroding, when applied according to Norandex/Reynolds written instructions, and when subject to normal and proper use. Generations Thermal Core Siding is also warranted to retain its thermal resistance and permeability such that it will not vary by more than 10 percent (10 %) from its published system “R” value, and published perm rating of 5 perms/inch. “R” value refers to resistance to heat flow. The higher the “R” value, the greater the insulation power. Perm rating refers to resistance to the movement of water vapor. The lower the perm rating, the higher the resistance to vapor transmission. Any product with a perm rating of 1 or less is a vapor barrier.
Lifetime Hail Protection
In addition to manufacturing defects, Norandex/Reynolds warrants its Generations Thermal Core Siding against damage caused by hail, to the extent that such damage is not covered by a homeowner’s insurance policy or other applicable insurance coverage(s).
In case of hail damage, if such damage is not fully covered by insurance, Norandex/Reynolds will, at its option, repair or replace the Generations Thermal Core Siding products that have been damaged by hail at no cost to the Home Owner(s). The Home Owner(s) shall be responsible for any applicable insurance deductibles, and for the Purchase and installation of any additional products desired by the Home Owner(s) to replace any undamaged products.
Remedies Under This Warranty
Should any manufacturing defects occur during the lifetime of the original Home Owner(s), and as long as the Home Owner(s) is still living and retains ownership of the property, Norandex/Reynolds will, at its option, repair, or replace the Generations Thermal Core Siding product(s) determined to be defective at no cost to the Home Owner(s), providing, however, that in lieu of repair, or replacement, Nonrandom/Reynolds reserves the right to refund to the Home Owner(s) that amount paid by the Home Owner(s) for the Generations Thermal Core Siding, plus the cost to the Home Owner(s) of its initial installation.
Who is Covered, and For How Long
Unless transferred as provided for below, the LIFETIME coverage offered by this Warranty automatically ceases upon the sale of the property or death of the last of the original Home Owner(s) of the property. Upon change in ownership, this LIFETIME Warranty may be transferred to the new owner(s) (the “First Subsequent Transferee(s)”) under the terms and conditions of this Warranty.
This warranty is designed to cover Home Owners of single-family homes (“Residential Property”). Generations Thermal Core Siding purchased by or installed upon property owned by corporations governmental agencies, partnerships, trusts, religious organizations, schools, condominiums or cooperative housing arrangements, or installed on apartment buildings or any other type of building or premises not used by individual home owners as their residences, will be warranted for a period of fifty (50) years, non-prorated, following the installation of the Generations Thermal Core Siding.
What This Warranty Does NOT Cover
Norandex/Reynolds shall not be liable for, and this Warranty does not apply to, any failure, defects or damages resulting from or connected with misuse, neglect or improper storage, improper application, or application not in adherence to normal industry standards; use of accessories which do not properly receive and/or secure Generations Thermal Core Siding; fire, hurricane, tornado, or other violent storm or casualty, or acts of God (with the exception of Hail, as warranted above); defects, failure of or damage to the substrata wall on which the Generations Thermal Core Siding was applied caused by movement, distortion, cracking, or settling of such wall or the foundation of the building; exposure to harmful chemicals, airborne stains, mildew or pollutants; failure of the Home Owner(s) to provide normal maintenance to the siding (see “Normal Maintenance”); distortion or warping due to additional or unusual heat sources; including without limitation, window reflection and heat buildup caused by inadequate roof ventilation; and any other cause not involving inherent manufacturing defects in the material supplied by Norandex/Reynolds. Norandex/Reynolds reserves the right to discontinue or modify any of its products, including the color of said Generations Thermal Core Siding, without notice to the Home Owner(s). In the event that repairs are needed on discontinued items, Norandex/Reynolds shall have the right to substitute siding products determined by Norandex/Reynolds to be of equal quality and price, and shall not be liable to the Home Owner(s) as a result of such discontinuance or modification.
Generations Thermal Core Siding is not warranted against discoloration caused by air pollution, acid rain, oxidation, or exposure to harmful chemicals.
Fade Protection on Generations® Thermal Core Siding
Norandex/Reynolds also warrants that Generations Thermal Core Siding will resist excessive fading from normal weathering. Normal weathering is defined as the damaging effects of sunlight and extremes of sunlight, weather and atmosphere that may cause any colored surface to chalk, fade, or become soiled or stained over time. It is normal for weathered siding to have slight shade differences underneath the bottom and shadow line portions of the siding panel, or underneath any area of the siding that is protected from the sun. This is considered normal weathering, and is not indicative of a defect in the siding. The degree to which normal weathering occurs depends on air quality, the building’s location, and other territorial conditions over which Norandex/Reynolds has no control.
Norandex/Reynolds shall have sole discretion to determine whether any Generations Thermal Core Siding products have weathered beyond the scope of normal weathering, and will base that conclusion on a measurement by a recognized, industry-approved color meter to determine the amount of color change.
Norandex/Reynolds will, at its sole option, repair or replace any Generations Thermal Core Siding products that have faded in excess of a color change of three (3) Hunter units, as measured by a recognized industry-approved color meter; provided, however, in lieu of repair or replacement, Norandex/Reynolds reserves the right to refund that amount paid by the Home Owner(s) for the Generations Thermal Core Siding, plus the cost to the Home Owner(s) of its initial installation. In case of repair or replacement, Norandex/Reynolds shall also be responsible for the cost of all pre-approved labor and materials.
Warranty Transfer to Subsequent Owner(s)

Important Fire Safety Information
Exterior vinyl building materials require little maintenance for many years. Nevertheless, common sense dictates that builders and suppliers of vinyl products store, handle and install vinyl materials in a manner that avoids damage to the product and/or the structure. Owners and Installers should take a few simple steps to protect vinyl-building materials from fire.
Rigid vinyl siding is made from organic material and will melt or burn when exposed to a significant source of flame or heat. Building owners, occupants and outside maintenance personnel should always take normal precautions to keep sources of fire, such as barbecues, and combustible materials, such as dry leaves, mulch and trash, away from vinyl siding.
When rigid vinyl is exposed to significant heat or flame, the vinyl will soften, sag, melt, or burn, and may thereby expose material underneath. Care must be exercised when selecting underpayment materials because many underpayment materials are made from organic materials that are combustible. You should ascertain the fire properties of underpayment materials prior to installation. All building materials should be installed in accordance with local, state, and federal building code and fire regulations.
For information about the fire properties of vinyl siding contact the: Vinyl Siding Institute, National Housing Center 1201 15th Street N.W.

The expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) used in Generations Thermal Core Siding was designed to perform well in fire situations. Extensive tests by independent laboratories confirm excellent performance when exterior walls containing EPS are exposed to a radiant heat source (as from a nearby burning building) and from open flame. The expanded polystyrene used in Generations Thermal Core Siding is manufactured containing a fire retardant. This greatly reduces the product’s contribution to a fire.
When exposed to an open flame or a high radiant heat source, the EPS used in Generations Thermal Core Siding simply melts and sags away from the source of heat.
- Wash using an ordinary long handled soft bristle brush. Clean gently to avoid surface abrasion. After cleaning, rinse area with water.
- To wash an entire house, start at the bottom and work up to the top, then rinse back down from top to bottom in order to prevent streaking.
- For difficult-to-remove dirt and stains such as top soil, motor oil, lithium grease, crayon, felt-tip pen, caulking, lipstick, grass, bubble gum, mold, and mildew, use readily available household cleaners such as those included in the section below.
- Most cleaners are inefficient in cleaning stains such as pencil, paint, oil, and tar. In these cases, you may wish to use a mildly abrasive cleaner, such as Soft Scrub®, Ajax®, Bon Ami®, etc., but the use of any abrasive material could have a negative effect on surface appearance.
- Do not use cleaners containing organic solvents or other aggressive ingredients because they could affect the surface appearance of the vinyl. Examples of such cleaners are: chlorine bleach, liquid grease remover, strong soaps and detergents containing organic solvents, nail polish remover, and furniture polish/cleaners.
