National Fenestration Rating Council
The National Fenestration Rating Council is a non-profit organization whose goal is to provide information for the consumer to compare the energy efficiency of windows. The NFRC rates windows by:
  • Visible Light Transmittance-Measures the amount of heat that escapes through the window.
  • U-Factor - Measures the amount of heat that escapes through the window.
  • Climate - NFRC has ratings guidelines for four climate zones.
  • Solar Heat Gain - Measures the amount of heat gained from the sun.
